The map outlining the city isn't accurate, it's outlinning the whole Guatemala department not the city. Can someone fix? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 190.14.142.66 ( talk) 20:48, 19 August 2019 (UTC)
Contra this article, Guatemala has an efficient public transportation system. It just isn't controlled by the government.
"""Efficient""" hardly qualifies it. I've ridden the busses there, soy guatemalteco. They are never on time, though that is relative because there are no schedules so you can't judge them. The buses are filthy, and prone to muggings. And the government does control the transport system because it hands out 1 franchize to 1 private company which thus has an absolute monoploy on a given bus line. The bus drivers are rude, and disrespectfull, they stop whereever they feel like it, and if a bus is running you're way, you move or get crunched.
Because the lines are badly designed and the rising gas prises poor people have to expend a considerable amount of their already meager salaries on transportation from their far away homes to their work places.
Mass transportation systems don't exist for a number of reasons: 1) the territory is prone to earthquakes so you can't build a metro, 2) the city is a solid block of concreate with no public lands on which to bulid a rail system, 3) everybody who can aford it buys a car, 4) there are no waterways.

Image:Guatemala city.JPG is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

It may seem out of place because there are no pictures on the article for the 2007 sinkhole or the other natural disasters but if there are any pictures we can use for the 2010 sinkhole it would probably be a nice addition to the article especially since that is probably what a lot of people to this article recently are here to read about since that's the most recent news item about Guatemala City. 24.177.8.105 ( talk) 03:04, 6 June 2010 (UTC)
I highly recommend Insivumeh's page when it comes to Climate: http://www.insivumeh.gob.gt/meteorologia/mapa_estaciones.htm
Just use that, and subtract any given temperature by one, since temperatures are actually decreasing. Or as you will. You could use this in all pages related to a Guatemalan City. I've noticed Xela doesn't even have a GOOD Climate section. I'm from Guatemala, so i can verify that the data is truth. Besides, it's INSIVUMEH, they can't be wrong...Can they? (Instituto Nacional de Sismologia, Vulcanologia, Meteorologia, e Hidrologia.) INSIVUMEH.
The climate seems tropical to me rather than subtropical highland since the mean temperature of every month is still above 64.0 F, which is the criteria used for a tropical climate. Obviously, the elevation causes it to have some differences with tropical climates at sea level or closer to it, but it still wouldn't qualify as subtropical highland because of the aforementioned criteria. The article had additional information (a mere 3 sentences) for Zone 10 hiding at its very end. It was entirely out of place there, and no-one browsing the "Places of interest by zones" section in the middle of the article would ever have stumbled upon it. I have no knowledge on the subject, and therefore no 'authority' to evaluate (and perhaps remove) that additional information; so I simply moved it to the beginning of the "Zone 10" subsection of the "Places of interest by zones" section.
Maybe someone else can re-check that new 'conglomerate' I created and decide whether to slim it down or not. Otto von B ( talk) 02:08, 24 August 2013 (UTC)

The mint isn't mentioned. Is there some sense of why the mint mark changed from "G" for 1773-76 to "NG" from 1779 onward?
