What to do about the synopsis
It currently covers only the first two episodes; with this much content being focused on such a comparatively small portion of the show, it definitely qualifies as fancruft. Seeing as though it doesn't even cover anything else that happens in later episodes, I'm wondering if it would be best to simply delete that section and let somebody start anew.

I agree. Given the number of characters, and the intricacies of the plot, do we really need more than a brief statement along the following lines:
'The story starts with the arrival of Julio Olmedo, a young man who is investigating the disappearance of his sister Cristina, a maid at the Grand Hotel. Julio assumes a false identity as a waiter; he is aided by Alicia Alarcon (a daughter of the hotel's owner), with whom he falls in love. Their investigations gradually uncover many other mysteries, mainly revolving around the machinations of the Alarcon family and of Diego Murcia, the hotel's ruthless general manager, who is also in love with Alicia; subsequent events - including conspiracies, blackmail and murder - threaten to destroy Julio's and Alicia's chances of finding happiness together.'

The result of the move request was: No consensus. Considerable support does not outweigh the opposition contending the 'd' is sufficient distinction despite usage of the 'd' in some references to the Spanish series in some English sources. (

– This is a simple question: is the addition or omission of a single "d" in the title enough under
WP:SMALLDETAILS to distinguish these two series, or do they need additional "by country" disambigation under
WP:NCTV in order to fully distinguish these two articles. For background, the American TV series is a clear adaptation of the Spanish series, so as per
WP:NCTV's disambiguation instructions "by country" disambiguation is... "Generally the preferred disambiguation when shows are distinct due to region, especially when used to distinguish regional versions of the same format/premise. (emphasis mine) which would clearly seem to apply in this case. Also, the article on the American series was recently boldly moved from
Grand Hotel (American TV series) to
Grand Hotel (TV series) by
Lowellian. ( Note: Page view stats –
here – won't be very useful in this case, as the U.S. TV series is "new"...) So we need the consensus of editors voting support or oppose to determine whether
WP:SMALLDETAILS or
WP:NCTV carries the day here. Thank you. --

Weak support 2nd per Netoholic. Oppose 1st since a simple Google search doesn't show that the American one is known without the "d". Crouch, Swale (

Oppose The proposed moves create unnecessary long and complicated disambiguation phrases when the series are already distinguished by having different base names. There is no conflict with WP:NCTV, whose guideline about disambiguation by region is for when disambiguation between TV series of the same title is required, which is not the case here since the base titles are already different. Furthermore, the Grand Hotel article already indicates in its introductory first sentence that it is based on and links to the Gran Hotel article, so users should have no trouble finding the other TV series. A {{distinguish}} hatnote could also be used. —

Support - given that these two series have a direct relation and could be mentioned in the same articles/contexts, the small difference is not enough. The Spanish series, in particular, is often called "Grand Hotel" in English sources and listed as such on
Netflix, for example. --
Netoholic@17:30, 6 July 2019 (UTC)reply
Support - even the IMDb title used is "Grand", which means this is a likely title people will search it under. There is no reason to cause ambiguity and confusion to our readers. --

Support – The US version is in fact the third version, the Spanish & the Egyptian (Secret of the Nile), set in The Grand Hotel. The only way to clarify is to identify that this is the US version. The US version will need to of an incredibly high standard to match the 2 earlier versions.

I believe Netoholic explained the opposing viewpoint – in English, all of the various versions of the series would be spelled "Grand Hotel" (and the Spanish series is even spelled that way in some of the English-language coverage), so there is a need to (fully) distinguish the Spanish and American (and other) versions from each other... I can see both sides of this one, but I probably lean in the direction that the additional disambiguation is the wiser choice here, and
Gran Hotel (TV series) and
Grand Hotel (TV series) should both probably point back to
Grand Hotel#Entertainment and the arts... --

Oppose per the points raised. I don't see why the Spanish series even needs the "Spanish TV series" in its article title. And the American series is quite clearly cancelation fodder with its weekly downward trend in viewership. If another American series with the same title is created in the future then yes something would need to be done for the American shows, but as things stand I don't see the issue.
