Always happy to review articles on Indian places :) I will post all my comments within a week. Cheers, Sainsf ( talk · contribs) 12:38, 18 April 2020 (UTC)
This article needs quite some work before it can be promoted. Here are a few major issues:
ghat meaning the landing point of river ferry or enclosure for boatsthe second instance of italics should be removed), needs rephrasing (take this long sentence for instance:
One of the earliest tea urban centres in Assam that has been the headquarters of the oldest subdivision for over 182–183 years since 1839, the local government body, Golaghat Municipal Board (GMB), was set up in 1920, becoming a long-established civic body of the state, formed before independent India), and probably reogranization (many sections are tiny and do not need to be independent sections at all, can be merged for a better summary). The lead especially needs a lot of work to follow proper summary style.
@ OmerMarcel: As you can see the article does not seem to be in good shape for promotion. Keeping the GA review open while improving it sounds like a bad idea to me. I would consider a quick fail and renomination once the above issues are fixed. Let me know what you think about this within a week.. if there is no response by then I will fail this.
