George Carlin was a Social sciences and society good articles nominee, but did not meet the
good article criteria at the time. There may be suggestions below for improving the article. Once these issues have been addressed, the article can be
renominated. Editors may also seek a reassessment of the decision if they believe there was a mistake.

State atheism needs a reassessment of its Importance level, as it has little to do with atheism and is instead an article about anti-theist/anti-religious actions of governments.

Is there an original source, or original sources, for the AV Club article "Is there a God?" cited? A very large number of persons are cited within the article itself, and I wonder if the content was only ever originally published as such, or if these are drawn from larger interviews. The only similar article from the publication that I've seen, with collections of 'polled' answers to a single question from so many persons, is "Who could you take in a fight?", published in 2003.
(Note: The interviewer is still being titled 'The Onion' in both articles.)
