There's an OA article published in Genocide Studies and Prevention by by Israel Charny that includes references to the history of unnamed versions of genocide-studies related Wikipedia articles. It's likely to be useful for this article. Boud ( talk) 17:47, 27 July 2024 (UTC)

The quote was provided by the Wikipedia writers. At the time of my writing this essay, its content is accurate; however, it is unclear from which source the quote was taken from.The original insertion appears to be this edit on 04:51, 26 April 2017 with a fix of the misspelling two years later on 11:14, 13 May 2019, and that still matches the current version. I don't see any sign of the use of quotation marks. Both

He concludes that ...indicate that Wikipedia describes the meaning of what Lemkin says, which might have some overlap in wording (e.g. to the extent that the original words are the best and simplest available), but is not intended as a direct quote. I don't have access to the source, but Charny effectively agrees with us that the description should be written without quotation marks, since it does not claim to be a quote.
