The League didn't fold. It's the exact same as the Championship with same trophy. It was just rebranded.
It doesn't seem especially useful to have a list of winners of the old and new first divisions on the same page. We would do better to have a list of winners of the old first division and the premier league. Same goes for other divisions also. Morwen - Talk 00:19, 25 December 2005 (UTC)
Ok, I did this - see Talk:Football_in_England for my comments. Morwen - Talk 14:35, 28 December 2005 (UTC)
I've reverted User:Pal's edit redirecting this article to FA Premier League: The First Division and the Premier League are not the same thing. The First Division predates the Premiership by over a 100 years, and between 1992 and 2004 was an entirely separate competition that ran in parallel. In articles wikilinking to the First Division that refer to its incarnation before 1992, it makes no sense to redirect them to the FA Premier League article, as it did not exist then; references to it between 1992 and 2004 are on the other hand, it is entirely erroneous. Please tell us about the cup.
-How old is the cup? Is it still the cup of the top division or is it the cup of the next down or the First Division of the League? What ranking does this cup have compared to other cups?
