There is a Western cultural norm against using regular table knives on the fish. The norm is not rooted in any practical considerations (using other silver tools would be OK from the taste perspective), but was nonetheless introduced sometime in the 18th century, as far as I can recall, as a " class marker". I've seen some culturological research on the subject, but was not able to re-discover it while writing the article. Any hints will be appreciated. Викидим ( talk) 01:57, 17 October 2023 (UTC)
Since the {{ distinguish}} was removed, a note will be useful here: the fishing knife is a completely different tool used for, well, actual fishing. Викидим ( talk) 22:03, 11 January 2024 (UTC)
