The following is a closed discussion of a
requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a
move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.
The result of the move request was: Moved. I took a second look at this after being questioned on my talk page. Reading what
WP:NCROY actually says, none of the Oppose votes are actually based in policy, so the consensus is therefor to move, taking into account the consensus of Wikipedia as a whole as reflected in the policy. (

Oppose - Please, let's maintain keeping the country in the page title, so less familiar readers, will know immediately the country the monarch has reigned over.

Oppose. I gather
WP:NCROY was changed recently to promote the removal of the country from articles such as these, but I don't see that removal as an improvement or a benefit for our readers. Also, based on the outcomes of recent similar RMs (
Christian,
Edward, etc.), it's a change that doesn't seem to have broad consensus support, which I'd take that as an indication that the guidance in NCROY should be revisited before proposing more such moves.

Sorry, I didn't realize the policy changed. Either way it i don't see how moving away from having the country in the title is a benefit—

Support - I've said it before and I'll say it again: I don't like this move just as much as most of the opposers. But unlike the other opposers, I understand that my personal opinion is irrelevant and that
WP:SOVEREIGN and other policies and guidelines most, if not all, of which support this.

Oppose for reasons given in the most recent RM for Edward I of England. I know who
Ferdinand V was. Or thought I did until I checked our page and learned that
Ferdinand I of Austria was also Ferdinand V of Hungary. Oddly enough, I could not have correctly identified Ferdinand I of Austria. I would have assumed the archduke, later
Ferdinand I, Holy Roman Emperor. After all, see
Ferdinand II of Austria. The point is that common name + numeral is not terribly recognizable without a country—and sometimes a title.
Louis XIV is the exception to the rule (which is why I still favour Louis XIV of France).
