decent looking article now, nice amount of detail. but good luck finding a citation for the relationship between this amp design & the near identical topology of the original marshall amps (n.b. & NOT the later high gain models, which adapted the first stage to allow the amp to sound overdriven in & of itself, where the early "plexi" & the fender amps all needed to be driven hard at their input to achieve distortion); this circuit design sort of suggests itself, based on the characteristics of the available valves (tubes) & the functional requirement. if jim marshall didn't copy it outright, he would probably have ended up with something similar anyway, along with all the me-too amps that followed, from sound city & the rest.
