The Moon illusion studied by Alhacen is explained nicely by this article. Note that the confounding of disk size is affected by the circular shape of the object, in this case, the moon. The Ebbinghaus illusion does not seem to confound the sizes of the cross-shaped objects in the figure of the Ebbinghaus illusion#An exception with opposite visual effects section. --- Ancheta Wis   (talk | contribs) 20:56, 12 July 2020 (UTC) reply
