Common name

I wonder whether her common name is Jayne White? Canterbury Uni refers to her as such on this research institute page. That's what she calls herself on LinkedIn. That's what she is referred to as by Stuff and by the ODT. I'm aware that in a professional capacity, she refers to herself using the initial. Schwede 66 04:58, 29 May 2024 (UTC) reply

Counterpoint, she has another LinkedIn under E. Jayne White, her Canterbury profile specifically says E. Jayne White on the page (only the link does not include E) and her Conversation profile is E (and Elizabeth) Jayne White. All of which is to say, I considered which way to go and came down on the side of including the E. She may not have had control over what Stuff and ODT called her in their articles, but she could certainly change her uni profile and Conversation profile if that was what she preferred. I guess what I said is that in a professional capacity, she refers to herself using the initial. That would include her uni profile. With academics, I reckon we get a better idea of their common name through reporting in the mainstream media. At the very least, we should have a redirect from Jayne White but I didn't want to set that up in case you decided to move the article. I'll leave it to you. Schwede 66 05:34, 29 May 2024 (UTC) reply
I had a good look at Google search results and sources this morning. I don't think it is clearcut which is the most commonly used version. I've come down on the side of sticking with E. Jayne White and have created a redirect from Jayne White. DrThneed ( talk) 22:42, 29 May 2024 (UTC) reply
