I just saw the last revision to this page. It is true that Arnold's group is a leader in this field, but don't know whether they were the "pioneers" - a reference would be good for this statement.. O Twist 03:21, 1 February 2007 (UTC)
I am quite certain they were not the pioneers in this field... I am going to remove the statement.

Discussion on the use of the term 'directed evolution' in transhumanism was moved to the newly created page - see Talk:Directed_evolution_(transhumanism)
Made seveal expansions and added a set of new images. Have updated the quality to level B. Let me know if you think it should be different. T. Shafee (Evo&Evo) ( talk) 07:44, 21 December 2014 (UTC)
For the moment, I've removed the section on life extension (quoted below) since it is currently speculation on experiments that haven't been done yet in a blog.
===Life extension research=== Researcher Maria Konovalenko, from the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, claims that directed evolution can be used to create strands of bacteria that extend the life of their host, and this research may further be used to develop human longevity treatments. [1]
If there are any peer-reviewed papers to reference we can integrate it back in. T. Shafee (Evo&Evo) ( talk) 08:19, 9 January 2015 (UTC)
I'm hoping to do some updates over the coming months. Unstructured ideas below (feel free to add)

Hi, I had a question on the mentioned section. when you sai "The sequence space for random sequence is vast (10^130 possible sequences for a 100 amino acid protein)[...]" Why is that? Natural amino acid are 20, so why not 10^130? hoping to be useful, Best regards Faballi ( talk) 13:22, 3 August 2022 (UTC)
