Ok, just because the guy has a good game it doesn't warrant a whole paragraph about it. What would happen if everyone did that with every player? I know it's inevitable that there will be supporters of clubs/players contributing biased information, but the following type of stuff is bollox.
As of February 21 2007 Berbatov has 15 goals in all competitions for Tottenham Hotspur. 4 days later, on February 24 2007 Berbatov put in his best performance of the season. During a blistering start for Tottenham, fellow striker Robbie Keane was sent off in the 34th minute whilst Tottenham were 3-0 up against a ragged looking Bolton side. Berbatov made the assist for the first goal and was integral in the second. However, his 'Man Of The Match' performance was awarded more for the way he brilliantly held the front line on post-34th minute on his own, resulting in Tottenham ending the match as 4-1 winners. His performance was a masterclass in holding up the ball and off-the-ball movement, especially as a lone striker.
So I've removed it. Johntinsley 23:40, 25 February 2007 (UTC)

Is there a Wikipedia policy on what currency to use? Berbatov started his career in Pirin Blageovgrad with now is in "V" Amateur football group. There are currently three teams named Pirin Blagoevgrad - the original one (in who Berbatov started his career), the PFC Pirin 1922 Blagoevgrad (ex Makedonska Slava (Simitli) playing in "B PFG") and the Pirin 2001 Blagoevgrad (playing also in "V AFG"). In my opinion listing him as a Newcastle fan is irrelevant, the user called Bababoum clearly lists himself as a Newcastle United supporter on his profile and it's obvious that he is listing this purely for that reason. Are we going to go onto Scott Parker adn Stephen Carr's profiles and add that they were boyhood Tottenham Hotspur fans as well in this case? Are we going to go onto Micheal Owen's and list him as a Liverpool supporter? No because it is not relevant and I don't see the reason to put that within any footballer profile. 217.44.199.246 23:36, 18 March 2007 (UTC)
Some people are interested to know who certain players support and in many other footballer articles on wikipedia, their team of preference has been given. I don't think there's any harm in stating in the trivia section who that player supports, as long as the claim is supported with a source. After all, isn't that the point of a trivia section - to include information that doesn't fit into the other sections of the article, but is still of interest and in this case lets us know more about the subject? Bababoum 12:10, 19 March 2007 (UTC)
First there is no direct quote in which he states he is a fan in that source - it is merely insinuated by a third party - and it does not state anywhere within that article that "he has supported Newcastle since a child" as you have suggested. Without a direct quote it is nothing more than an insinuation on the part of the article writer, the only quote that supports the sentance is him stating Shearer is a role model, unless you can find one where he himself states he is a Newcastle supporter it's then it remains unsubstantiated and can not be stated as fact.
Was going to shift the "He is also said to have a Jack Russell named after his favourite film The Godfather." to the trivia section... but it already lists his favourite film as "Scarface" so I just deleted ti. It doesn't belong in the main text, as having a dog named after the Godfather doesn't make him notable.

During his transfer on the last day of the transfer window, he was filmed meeting with the manager and chairman of Manchester United, Sky Sports News were running the story early afternoon and through the night that in direct contravention of FA and Premier League rules Spurs had not given permission to Manchester United their agreement to talk directly to the player. This statement was issued by the Chairman of Spurs, Mr.Daniel Levy. Despite the transfer subsequently being completed their is now speculation that the FA have launched an inquiry into the whole affair, and may yet rule the transfer as illegal and take action against Manchester United, the player and his agent. Also in that section it discusses his assists total, saying he was joint-second in the league, but would it not also be appropriate to include his goals total in a similar way in there too? (Sorry, forgot to sign the comment above) SideIron ( talk) 08:25, 24 November 2009 (UTC)

The section claiming Berbatov played for Pirin Blagoevgrad in his senior career is false. He played for the Pirin youth team before joining the CSKA Sofia youth team. His first professional contract was with CSKA Sofia. Here are some references:
http://topsport.ibox.bg/comment/id_1467764911 (in Bulgarian, an interview with Hristo Marinchev, one of the first people to discover Berbatov's talent, detailing how he was scouted for the CSKA youth team)
http://www.pfl.bg/index.php?option=com_wrapper&view=wrapper&Itemid=77&lang=en (the official site of the Professional Football League. The full lineups and statistics for the 1998-1999 season in the top Bulgarian league - Berbatov is not found on the Pirin Blagoevgrad squad even once. So the formerly cited http://www.national-football-teams.com/player/1088.html has got its facts wrong. Furthermore, the PFL site contains data of Berbatov's first professional match - as a substitute for CSKA in the 17th round of the same season)
I am changing the main article accordingly. -- VladoBG ( talk) 16:07, 12 December 2011 (UTC)

Berbat I think is a Turkish word and means evil or something like that. Some ethnic Bulgarians have Turkish words as family names and probably some Albanians too (Both nations were part of the Ottoman empire). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.43.165.72 ( talk) 15:19, 19 March 2012 (UTC)
I'm not the right person to edit this article in a completely unbiased way, so I'll not even try, but is the use of the word "sublime" even once appropriate for an encyclopaedia? It appears twice in the section covering his Man Utd career.
Also in that section it discusses his assists total, saying he was joint-second in the league, but would it not also be appropriate to include his goals total in a similar way in there too? (Sorry, forgot to sign the comment above) SideIron ( talk) 08:25, 24 November 2009 (UTC)
Is there a better one, the content is allright but the quality is awful.
Georgi Iliev was president of Levski Kjustendil and not of Lokomotiv Plovdiv by the time that "kidnap" story may have happened. It is obvious even from that ridicules article shown as References 11 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 195.34.113.178 ( talk) 07:52, 27 August 2010 (UTC)
The picture shown is when Manchester United had AIG on their jerseys. Well now they have AON and this should be updated to show him with his "new" AON jersey. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.48.97.161 ( talk) 17:42, 7 March 2011 (UTC)
