Most sources reporting on Yaku just say it is a cyclone, which can mean any low-pressure area and doesn't necessarily mean a tropical cyclone. Very few sources say that it is a tropical cyclone and many say that Yaku has, "unorganized tropical characteristics". Yaku should not be treated as a tropical cyclone until more sources say that it is one.

RandomInfinity17: Peru is official per
[1]. NWS transferred warning responsibility for the high seas to Peru on July 1, 2017.

My belief is that our hands are tied here as regardless of if it is a full-blown tropical cyclone or not as the Peru National Weather Service are saying that it was a cyclone with tropical characteristics.

Im still not convinced it was a TC, however, disturbances are included as part of the seasons and this system was described as tropical in nature by numerous sources which would make it part of the season.

There are two things at play here. The rainy season, which began months ago, and the cyclone, which formed eight days ago. Please read the sources carefully and try not to blame the latter for any death or destruction credited to the former.

Death toll
According to the source in the article (
Bloomberg) says that Yaku caused 8 deaths and 58 deaths for the rainy season as a whole. However,
ReliefWeb says that that Yaku caused 58 deaths and doesn't mention the rainy season. Which source should be used?

Other reports mention 58 since September 22. Note that it isn't reliefweb making a statement but rather weworld which is the source.
