Career
District 1 is the same District his father, Coleman A. Young, served as state senator for 6.5 years.
According to the wiki page on Coleman Young, he was the senator from michigan's 4th district not first. However I cannot find a source for what district he was in beyond the wiki page. Per
http://www.mcgi.state.mi.us/districtlocator/ they are not the same. — Preceding
