Johnluisocasio: It's been a while, and I've made significant progress on this, but there is quite a bit more work to be done.
Subdivisions of the Democratic Republic of the Congo says there should be 1045 items in this list (as of 2018 election, the number has increased since then). Copying the article's actual list into a text editor, I count only 806 items. I've mostly been working from the Reférentiel Geographique Commun map linked at the bottom of the page, but the map does not show the city communes, so there's probably quite a few missing. The main issue now is trying to find what needs to be added. 〈

Greetings @
Forbes72 Thanks for letting me know. I will go check out on each page available. Also by any chance, is there a website where they focus on the chiefdoms & sectors, alongside their subsequent lower-level sub-municipal units (i.e.: villages or localities or settlements or hamlets on rural areas; and neighborhoods or quarters or communities on urban areas)?

The website rgc.cd seems to have some granular information, but you may have to dig around to find what you're looking for (it's all in French). 〈

Johnluisocasio: Update: I've since found a .pdf with a complete list of groupings in a reference on frwiki
[1]. No coördinates, but it does list all 5909 groupings by sector/chiefdom, territory, and province. 〈

Cool. Will have a look on that one. Thanks for sharing this piece of info. Also, by any chance are there any kinds of info on the villages (per each grouping) for rural areas, and the neighborhoods (sorted or grouped by the quarters) for urban areas? Any update would be very appreciated.

Split out communes.
I would like to split out the communes into a new article "Communes of the Democratic Republic of the Congo" which is already a redirect. Any objections?

I was considering the same thing. It's possible to make an argument that they should all be in one list, like how there are a few municipalities and independent cities included in
List of United States counties and county equivalents, but those are edge cases, whereas communes are a regular feature in all the provinces of the DRC. Two pages is definitely easier to navigate, plus there's a natural split since cities and territories are organized differently. I'm in favor of a split. I suggest adding a link to the new page on
Template:Politics of the Democratic Republic of the Congo after the split. 〈
