Is there a source for the claim that CN Real has been cancelled? As true as I want it to be, I haven't seen anything official about it anywhere. Kcowolf ( talk) 02:33, 2 June 2010 (UTC)

I took a look at some numbers, and I think they support the proposed move.
Two things emerge for me from these numbers. First, overwhelmingly more readers are seeking out the US topic than any other; that is to say, the US page is the primary topic. Second, assuming that most of the 58,785 readers who arrived at the DAB page via the Cartoon Network redirect went on to one of the articles DABed from it, nearly all of those readers went to the US page. This suggests to me that the readers are not being well-served to have to go through the DAB page to get to the article they seek.
I checked to see how many incoming links each article had. I counted only links from the article space. A lot of links are generated by the {{ Cartoon Network navbox}} template, which is transcluded into 87 pages. I accounted for that transclusion, which would otherwise skew the number of links (for example, Cartoon Network (France) has 94 links; but 87 of them are only present because the template is used in articles that have to do with Cartoon Network as a whole; only 7 links are deliberate links to the Cartoon Network (France) article).
My conclusion is that analysis of both of these metrics point out:
In sum, Cartoon Network (United States) should be moved to Cartoon Network, and point to Cartoon Network (disambiguation) via a hatnote such as {{ about}}

Cartoon Network has ordered 13 new series:
The original series are definitely The Problem Solverz, Secret Mountain Fort Awesome, and probably a new Ben 10.
Original series aren't Warner Bros. Animation productions: The Looney Tunes Show, ThunderCats, DC Nation and Green Lantern: TAS, or a new Total Drama.
And what about the rest? The Amazing World of Gumball is the premiere on Cartoon Network UK and is produced in Europe, so is the original series or European co-production? Level Up, a new live-action series series is the CN original? How to Train Your Dragon is a DreamWorks production, but The Penguins of Madagascar and Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness are the Nickelodeon Originals, so maybe HtTYD will be a Cartoon Network original series? And what with RedaKai and Lego Ninjago?

There seems to be an over-reliance on online articles in this page. Where are the printed references on books? A small search through googlebooks points at least one book which does try to seriously analyze the network. In particular, its corporate ownership, its marketing strategies, its access to the "largest collection of animated programming" though ownership of Warner Brothers and MGM theatrical shorts, its merchandise campaigns, and its censorship practices. Why not summarize use citations from this and other available books to help this obviously underdeveloped article? This article has far too much information about little subjects (e.g. branding, previous programming). One excerpt in paticular:
"Beginning May 25, 2008, Cartoon Network has been airing animated shorts, called Wedgies, to fill in spots between two programs. On July 14, 2008, the network took on a newer look created by Tristan Eaton and was animated by Crew972. The bumpers of that era had white, faceless characters called Noods, based on the DIY toy, Munny. The standard network logo was then completely white, adopting different colors based on the occasion in the same style. citation needed On June 12, 2009, the screen bug then turned all black with white letters and starting March 2010, the words "CARTOON NETWORK" in Eagle (typeface) font is now white instead black and it starting to push down little further."
Ignoring the obvious grammar and fancruft speckled here and there, is it important to have these sections describing these 'eras'? I can understand branding elements can pertain an interest to a majority of people, but I'll eat a hat if this is considered encyclopedic. Whisternefet ( talk) 20:11, 8 October 2011 (UTC)

Hi, there are a few reasons why I think the article should be merged with this one. For starters, there's no clear definition of what a "Cartoon Cartoon" actually is, other than a label used by the network for "original series" for some years. Some controversy exists over the term, too. For example, although it has been "confirmed" that Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends and Camp Lazlo are Cartoon Cartoons (according to the talk page and hidden comments in the article's body), they aren't listed as such in the main text. Next, the bulk of the article is a list of programs made up of info taken from the lead of the individual cartoon articles. Take away this section, and we're left with 7 short paragraphs and only 1 reference. Most, if not all of this remaining info could be incorporated into this one on Cartoon Network. Paper Luigi T • C 23:26, 28 April 2013 (UTC)
This article currently states that the first program broadcast by CN was Rhapsody Rabbit. That bit of info was added here, on July 4, 2012, but no source was actually cited for it. The cartoon isn't mentioned in the Oct. 1, 1992, newspaper article, and I even have a problem with Van Partible's blog post, as he could've obtained his info from Wikipedia (where else would he get his info about events from October 1?). Now, what makes me bring this up is part of an article on Variety's website about CN's 20th birthday. It includes key dates in CN history, one being the network's premiere date and first program shown, which Variety Staff believe is The Great Piggy Bank Robbery, not Rhapsody Rabbit. Should we go with the blog post, the Variety article, or something different? Paper Luigi T • C 00:41, 1 June 2013 (UTC)
"When the network launches, the character known as Droopy will introduce the service to viewers and then present the Cartoon Network's first animated cartoon, "Rhapsody Rabbit," starring Bugs Bunny."

Throughout this article there are several instances where this person is referenced. He is never explained who he is or what value of authority, if any he is. The citations at the bottom don't link to his own work and it appears it's quoting something that someone quoted him.
There seems to be no proper citation on what he has information or studies upon and in truth many of his assertions seem kind of bias and contrary to what the "general public" would believe today. For example his assertion it was SGC2C that won over adult viewers seems to not flow with the idea that the main audiences viewable in any modern social media search would show is is college age and younger viewers who find it "cool" to watch things the tv says they shouldn't. I feel using "cool" is a fair term use given that Mr Sandler seems to find some people appreciated a show being "hip" is an appropriate coinage in a study.
Now if he wrote this article? book? editorial? based on a survey of some kind he might very well have had evidence to go on, but survery bias isn't exactly not expected, but still given the article offers no incite into who he is/was and what he did to be able to back any of it up, we are left wondering who is this person who seems to be presenting his own whimsical theories that do defy the current beliefs.
Now if we could add a sentence detailing who this man is and why his opinion is of relevance than so be it, but without any validation i don't see what this man's opinions are doing in this article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.171.176.63 ( talk) 02:53, 4 June 2013 (UTC)

Yes, it is true that CN will be transferred to Warner Bros. But stuff like this takes time and Cartoon Network's website still lists the network as being owned by Turner Broadcasting System. The change hasn't happened yet. Turner still exists for now and unless there is a source that says the change has occurred, please do NOT change Cartoon Network's owner to Warner Bros.. HurricaneGeek2002 ( talk) 17:14, 3 April 2019 (UTC)

Look, I don't particularly care about who is listed in the owner parameter of the infobox. My issue is that whoever is listed needs to consistent with what is in the text of the article. If the text of the article says it's owned by one company (WarnerMedia), the infobox shouldn't say something else (WarnerMedia Ent.). In addition, the edit warring is getting disruptive. Please discuss it here. Aoi (青い) ( talk) 02:44, 20 May 2019 (UTC)
Jeez Louise, Everybody is fighting over the owner parameter, Otherwise than Turner and Warner Bros., I would make no sense to have “just WarnerMedia”. It makes no sense at all, mentioning about Trivialist who changed Warner Bros AND Turner to WarnerMedia, rather be, if the spilt isn’t happening at all, (i doubt) Turner could’ve stayed on there if this edit war didn’t start in the first. Not to mention the spilt away from Turner to Warner Bros’ Warner Bros. Global Kids & Young Adults for Cartoon Network and Boomerang to go into, Again, if the spilt is not happening, then why does WB.GK&YA even exist? Of course, none of you even know that Turner defuncted. As of it’s website redirecting to WarnerMedia’s, Would that mean shit? So everyone, Leave the owner parameter alone until the spilt happens. (if so) HappyINC ( talk) 03:42, 20 May 2019 (UTC)
Ergo, there is a lot confusion if Turner split into WB. Even though in my opinion, I would be cool if CN switches into WB. After days, [ edit here] by User SLBBenfis23 sourced this edit, but user VictorTorres2002 [ it.] [ I put it back] saying that "The edit is reliably sourced, And the website, They will change the ownership, but they need time, y’know? Just like BabyTV, owned by Disney, it’s website says that it’s still owned by Fox. So we should be good to go now." But none of you listened to me. Now with that out of the way, can you all at least, just stay away from the parameter and stick to CN's recent significant news? cus this is beginning to be too much. Also, Aoi, You should have said this issue in this talk page section 'Turner is STILL the owner of CN." Thanks, HappyINC ( talk) 15:00, 21 May 2019 (UTC)

In sum, Cartoon Network (United States) should be moved to Cartoon Network, and point to Cartoon Network (disambiguation) via a hatnote such as {{ about}}

If anyone else has any strong thoughts one way or another, please feel free to comment here. Cyphoidbomb ( talk) 18:38, 29 April 2015 (UTC)

I'm not kidding. I'm sorry, but My Gym Partner's a Monkey premiered on the same year as Camp Lazlo, the Life and times of Juniper Lee, Sunday Pants, and Ben 10. So, technically, 2005 was when Cartoon Network premiered about 5 new shows in one year. Yes, 2004 was when Cartoon Network premiered three new shows, but 2006 was when Cartoon Network premiered just two shows: Squirrel Boy and Class of 3000. I know I sound like I'm giving out opinions, but really. I don't want to be blocked. Okay? I'm not ever going to put any opinions on ANY article ever again. I promise. Thank you. -- SpaceGoofsGeekerBoy ( talk) 14:13, 6 August 2016 (UTC)

CohenBetty Betty Cohen Known for: Founder and original president of Cartoon Network (1992–2001) Suceded by: Jim Samples Betty Cohen was the founder and original president of Cartoon Network from 1992 to 2001. The eras under her were Checkerboard (1992–1997) and Powerhouse (1997–2004). Under her leadership, the network became a global phenomenon with asset value of nearly $3 billion. Cohen stepped down from her post in 2001, stating “I was afraid I would die the queen of cartoons.”[1] She was succeeded by Jim Samples.
Most recently, Cohen served as the CEO of Lifetime Entertainment, a leader in women’s television.
Under Cohen, Toonami, the Cartoon Cartoons, Cartoon Cartoon Fridays, Cartoon Orbit, the Checkerboard and Powerhouse eras, and much more were introduced to CN. I am removing a copy of the entire article from here. If you have a suggested edit then please say what changes you want made and explain why. It is not realistic to expect another editor to read through the whole of a suggested replacement for the article, comparing it word by word with the existing article, work out what the differences are, and guess what the reasons for the proposed changes are. I'm afraid it's true. If AT&T buys TimeWarner, that means they now own Cartoon Network. -- 73.6.75.134 ( talk) 00:28, 5 April 2018 (UTC)
I think the History section needs split into its own page. It is far too long, longer than Nickelodeon's, which has its own page. Foxnpichu ( talk) 13:01, 16 January 2019 (UTC)
No it didn't. It never said that in the article and the website still says that CN is owned by Turner. Your statement is false. HurricaneGeek2002 ( talk) 13:34, 29 April 2019 (UTC)
The CN site got hacked recently and videos are being replaced with memes. Is this something of note to bring up in the article? — Preceding unsigned comment added by MantleM ( talk • contribs) 03:55, 28 April 2019 (UTC)
They are putting in German adresses even though it was concepted in America. And when I try to undo them, it doesn't do squat. They also deleted the past years edits. Somebody do something immeadiantly. Eclispeo ( talk) 01:47, 21 August 2020 (UTC)
Can you add in a section showing all the April Fool's Day stunts that Cartoon Network has done over the past few years? This is to be more consistent with the Adult Swim article and also so we can see what the "Cat-toon Newtork" joke did.-- 24.44.76.88 ( talk) 01:41, 12 April 2021 (UTC)

From what I've seen, there's conflicting information on where CN's headquarters is located. Some say it's in Atlanta, (as shown in the main page) others say it's in New York City. (more specifically the Deutsche Bank Center) So which location is correct? -- 72.42.172.83 ( talk) 04:55, 31 August 2021 (UTC)
Do you think it's time to split the "History" section of Cartoon Network into separate articles? It's getting longer with time. Disney Channel and Nickelodeon (albeit being much older networks) have theirs separated.
Yes, it sure is. AlolanMeowthOsu ( talk) 20:26, 3 May 2022 (UTC)
