I'm curious as to why it's spelled "Capitol", which is an American spelling not used in Canada, and even in the US "Capitol" is used to refer to the Lesgiative Buildings, whereas they still use "Capital" for the city itself. Are we sure this is the correct spelling? Fry1989 ( talk) 19:16, 9 July 2010 (UTC)
The Capitol Theatre, Ottawa, built in 1920 by the 'Bate-McMahon Co.' co-founded by Thomas Cameron Bate. This is a prime example of the many Buildings built by the Ottawa BATE family.
Nor sure why this term was used. Anyone growing up in Ottawa knows it as the Capital Theatre. it was more than a movie venue and had an actual theatre stage. 2607:FEA8:E29D:6000:D018:5882:288:B12A ( talk) 10:44, 24 March 2022 (UTC)
