A fact from Calypso Cabaret appeared on Wikipedia's
Main Page in the Did you know column on 19 February 2024 (
check views). The text of the entry was as follows:
Did you know... that the performers in the Thai drag show Calypso Cabaret impressed
Lady Gaga with their ability to be open about their identities?
The following is an archived discussion of the DYK nomination of the article below. Please do not modify this page. Subsequent comments should be made on the appropriate discussion page (such as
this nomination's talk page,
the article's talk page or
Wikipedia talk:Did you know), unless there is consensus to re-open the discussion at this page. No further edits should be made to this page.
The article notes: "While performing “Hair”, Gaga spoke about visiting the Calypso drag revue in Bangkok and being quite impressed by the stars’ freedom to express their identities."
Did a spot check for plagiarism and close-paraphrasing; what I saw looks good. Clever way to source refs 3-20. Ref2 in the lead, though, is incorrect; it should be changed to ref24 (another Nation source). I find that these kinds of errors pop up a lot, so please make sure your refs go to the right sources.
Hook is interesting (mentioning Lady Gaga is always a good idea), with the right source, and is long enough. QPQ done. Fix the above-mentioned error and I'll AGF that you checked your sources, and I'll pass this. Interesting and fun article, good work.
