850 Probably redirect all these to a single-page history of this series. Main articles on each one later, if desired.
Wire wheels:
Wire wheels#On motorcycles says only main article:
Motorcycle construction#Wheels, but that is not a main article, it is a subsection.
Bicycle wheel is a better article, but none of these 3 actually explains how spokes support the wheel pre-stressed w/compression.
Should it be added to this article the fact that all racing in the United States stopped from 1942 and 1945 for World War II? It probably ended any tracks that weren't already closed.

According to The Golden Age of the American Racing Car, it was the Depression, not the war, that ended board track ovals in favor of the comparatively maintainance-free dirt...and even then, it eventually got to the point that Indianapolis WAS, effectively, the national championship, nearly all on its own, with only one other event registered as occurring, for instance, in 1937. To put it simply, I don't think board track racing made it past 1932, let alone to 1941. --

There're some seriously unsourced sentences here......I removed a couple of them. It's kinda sad in that a' lot of them probably have some validity.
