Isn't the other boundary with Cheshire, not Derbyshire? (don't think it's changed since 1968?) Linuxlad 10:08, 21 Feb 2005 (UTC)
Hmm - looks like they changed the boundary post-1980 (the date of my 'Dark Peak' map - on wear resistant paper so I've never needed an update :-)) - my map shows the Derby boundary running all the way up the Woodhead Valley and the River Etherow to Far Small Clough, then over to Swains Head and to the River Derwent. I guess you're right and they tidied up the Cheshire bulge in the late 90s (?, but NOT 1974*) when the unitaries were created (though down here, around old Avon, they studiously left all such boundaries alone). (*Very significant revisions of the county boundaries _had_ been mooted in the Maud report in the late 60s IIRC, but the eventual 1974 changes left most counties intact - that was their point!)
Thanks for picking it up. Linuxlad 16:36, 21 Feb 2005 (UTC)
