I interpreted that scene differently. Antonio had an uncommon brand of bike and recognized the frame as his, but the Carabiniere (officer) deliberately misread the serial number, possibly paid off by the black marketers, or maybe just to avoid having to investigate it or do the paperwork. After all it's just another theft among thousands. He didn't let Antonio examine the serial number for himself, just told Antonio to trust him. MaxBrowne2 ( talk) 06:44, 1 March 2023 (UTC)
As I said in my editsum I'm all in favour of improving plot summaries, simplifying language, removing unnecessary details etc, but not wholesale removal and replacement with a completely new summary that someone's written themselves. It's impossible for other editors to keep track of exactly what they've changed, let alone assess whether or not it's an improvement. Make any changes incremental and explain why you think they're improvements in edit summaries. MaxBrowne2 ( talk) 20:59, 24 September 2023 (UTC)
