Does the cathedral have a name? Trekphiler 11:08, 29 December 2006 (UTC)
The German Wikipedia says "Hohe Domkirche Unserer Lieben Frau zu Augsburg", but I still want to confirm that the official diocesan website doesn´t seem to mention the complete name at all. What do you need it for? Jbhood 13:27, 29 December 2006 (UTC)
Please introduce the Infobox German Location with image. It provides a coherent look among German cities. Lear 21 23:01, 25 April 2007 (UTC)
Does Augsburg still host a Mozart festival? If so, it should be included here. Binksternet ( talk) 02:39, 9 May 2008 (UTC)
There are some cities in Germany which claim to be the oldest city in Germany, but none of these cities have the evidence to be, so it can be said that Augsburg is one of the oldest cities (as Trier, Kempten, Worms etc.) -- 217.237.187.19 ( talk) 14:01, 2 July 2008 (UTC)
The infobox of the old Imperial City states "theocrazy" as form of Government. I do not think this a valid statement. The fact, that half of the city council had to be lutheran and the other half had to be catholic does not mean the city government was a theocraczy, because it was not clerics that were members of the city council or that ruled, but the (partly noble) elite of merchants and the craftsmen of the city. So the government might be called aristocratic, but not theocrazy. Ustersbacher ( talk) 14:10, 11 September 2008 (UTC)
To the left/right are two newly uploaded 17th-century engravings by Wenceslas Hollar relevant to Augsburg. Feel free to use them or not use them. Dcoetzee 09:34, 18 March 2009 (UTC)
I will perform a minor edit to tidy up the English, grammar and structure for readability- and also add links tot the German Wikipedia article. I hope everyone will be happy with the changes. Starstylers ( talk) 08:55, 8 July 2009 (UTC)
I guess Vindelicorum is latin for something, does anyone know. Maybe it could be included in the text. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.255.35.54 ( talk) 10:22, 16 September 2010 (UTC)
Hello, I lived in augsburg back in 1956 57 & 58, The ?? I am asking, I was at Infanty Kasere, Is it still there. Thanks, Don Phillippi, USA, Kentucky. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.19.230.46 ( talk) 11:44, 16 May 2012 (UTC)
I know this is rather late...
By now nearly all of the barracks have been torn down. Former Flak Barracks have become a housing estate for families, Sheridan is going to be a posh housing estate, too. There are a few buildings left, one of them is going to be a museum and the building with the former ward room in Reinölstrasse is still existent.
http://www.sheridan-kaserne.de
Quartermaster Supply Center (PX?) has been "gutted" and it's an expensive retirement home now. Reese Barracks are also gone ....also got turned into a housing estate.
The church at Ackermannstrasse is still there and in use, also the church at the former Flack Barracks.
The housing estates have been renovated, got new roofs and are mostly occupied by families.
If you check with google maps "Leitershofer Strasse", "Reinölstrasse" and "Dr. Duerrwangerstrasse" you can easily see the massive changes. Woisch ( talk) 17:20, 9 October 2014 (UTC) Susanne
I seriously doubt that Kriegshaber is 59 square km. It's tiny compared to Lechhausen (which itself is twenty something sq.km). I suspect Kriegshaber is probably more like 5.9 sq. km. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.217.180.18 ( talk) 20:27, 27 October 2015 (UTC)
User:Schinkelburg is trying to root this article into the notable persons paragraph. After me reverting it with Augsburg not even mentioned in Atrott's article he put Augsburg there inside, rudely vandalized on my user page and reverted my edit with another thought terminating cliché "Well-known German edit terrorists on Atrott! A German should not decide this English matter". I will not undo this edit, I do not want to be drawn into an edit war. But I want to hear the opinion of others about this matter. -- سلوك Saluk 06:48, 6 September 2016 (UTC)
I apologize. My experiences with German editors are very shady ones. However, I apparently misjudged you from others. I apologize to you. User @ Augsburgesegianfy12: tries to insert this information in the head paragraph. There is no English equivalent to the use of "Metropole" as it is used in Bavaria. I assume this information is quite irrelevant for the English article as it is only relevant in the sense of Bavarian economics funding. I already reverted 2 times, two other users did additional reverts. The upper mentioned user seems to see it as relevant, so we should discuss it here. -- سلوك Saluk 08:34, 13 July 2018 (UTC)
User @ Saluk: Good morning. Mistaken! this page is referred to Augsburg Germany then the use of Metropli (because Augsburg is in Germany) and right! Because it is not only an economic financing of Bavaria, but a development of the city itself. A tourist who comes to Germany to live or as a tourist is not properly informed, because if I go to live in Japan I have to adapt to the local customs, if a Japanese city is spreading in a dizzying way and in a future it is named metropolis (for Japanese laws) on the English page must be adapted to local legislation, as happens in Augsburg). Now they will also be incorporated into the cities and towns bordering Augsurg, becoming in the future real districts. This means that a Suburban will be put in order to reach very far places, as you say, this is an economic financing for the city.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Augsburgesegianfy12 ( talk • contribs) 2018-07-13T10:20:15 (UTC)
User @ Saluk:, User @ Kgfleischmann: sorry but I did not understand what you mean, my English is not great, but if I understand that the article is not reliable, if you do not believe that the Bavarian council is not reliable, it has also announced the mayor of Augbsurg, more if you look at Wiki (almost equal to wikipedia) and even there it has been updated. I no longer know how to explain it to you..— Preceding unsigned comment added by Augsburgesegianfy12 ( talk • contribs) 2018-07-16T13:24:08 (UTC)
It says right behind the different pronunciations: "Austro-Bavarian: Augschburg". The dialect spoken in the city of Augsburg doesn't belong to the Austro-Bavarian group of dialects but to the Alemannic more specifically the Swabian group of dialects hence it should read: "Alemannic-Swabian: Augschburg". If someone could correct this. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2003:ED:6BD7:6300:C4CF:195E:52BC:7126 ( talk) 17:24, 17 October 2019 (UTC)
