See above. Sorry if I'm missing something, but it appears as a link overlayed on the map rather than a dot. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.77.179.103 ( talk) 23:11, 9 February 2011 (UTC)
The article reads that the Nazi's tried to buy the island in 1937. That might have been hugely historically significant. Is there a reference explaining what their plans were, or why the purchase offer was refused? 98.210.208.107 ( talk) 09:54, 16 April 2011 (UTC)
In researching my family history and my great grandfather's immigration to America from Ireland during the great famine, i came across a letter wherein he refers to Anticosti Island as Quarantine Island where his wife and other passengers who died within 3-days sail of land were buried and where they had to stay in quarantine for 3-days. This was in 1847. 108.215.240.235 ( talk) 06:55, 12 December 2011 (UTC)
REPLY: Irish immigrants to Canada were quarantined in the mid-1800's at Grosse Île, further west up the Saint Lawrence River. Look up "Grosse Île and the Irish Memorial National Historic Site" on the Parks Canada website. Anticosti Island was privately held from the 1600's until 1974 and was not used as a quarantine station (read various histories of the island for details).
