"Her role in 'Sexy Beast' is of interest because she plays an archetype, the criminal's wife, exulting in combining her acceptance of his past with a celebration of the peaceful present - and a horror of his return to past criminality. But Redman transcends the criminal aspect of the film by playing the character as a woman who has simply had to deal, over time, with men. Whether men are murderous, thieving criminals, or more typical assholes, she projects the truth that in the end women have to make the same adjustments, smile the same smiles, and take the most important decisions."

"Her father Ronald died from a fatal heartattack..." It'd be awful to die from a non-fatal heart attack. Ossipewsk 23:26, 5 December 2006 (UTC)
Someone should mention her gammy arm. Skinmeister 13:37, 20 February 2007 (UTC)
The following statement is strange... "The niece of actress Joyce Redman, Redman is badly scarred on her upper left arm as a result of scalding herself with a pan of boiling turkey and vegetable soup when she was 18 months old." Given an age of 18 months, "as a result of being scalded" would seem more appropriate than "as a result of scalding herself". If she was born in 1959 then how could she be a teenager when her father died in 1980? If this was her actual birth year then she would have been either 20 or 21 years old in 1980 certainly not mid teens! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.232.148.174 ( talk) 23:06, 4 May 2008 (UTC)
"with mobile phone designer Damian Schnabel, 36,[2] for nine years." Specifying his age and the duration of their relationship doesn't make for an enduring Wikipedia article. I'll alter it to "since 1999" based on the stated duration and the date of the source material. - Bazj ( talk) 07:13, 25 May 2008 (UTC)
The article says it happened when Redman was 18 months old. This source, accompanied by an interview, says she was a teenager: http://amandaredman.org/biography.html. Syzygos ( talk) 04:28, 3 November 2008 (UTC)
It's a minor point, but she doesn't live in Ealing, and the source cited only says 'West London'. She lives in Hanwell. I don't have a source for this, other than that she's my neighbour. — Preceding unsigned comment added by BearAllen ( talk • contribs) 22:35, 25 April 2011 (UTC)

Beware, even The Independent claims that Amanda is Joyce's niece: [2], saying "Her niece, Amanda Redman, stars in the BBC crime series New Tricks." IMDb is slightly more useful and says: "Many sources claim she is the aunt of actress Amanda Redman. However, this does not seem likely as Joyce Redman (who was born to a British father and an Irish mother, whose maiden name was McCormick) had no brothers and grew up in Ireland; while Amanda Redman's father Ronald (1929-1980) was born in London to parents from Yorkshire (his mother's maiden name was Butler) and grew up in the UK."
