Read the article with an objective eye and you'll know what I mean. I am excited for this game, but there's no reason to make claims about photo-realistic graphics and such. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.12.146.119 ( talk) 22:12, 3 June 2008 (UTC)
Is it really needed? I know under the Story heading it has a paragraph starting with "In the beginning of the game...", but that whole section basically serves as a back story as to why Alan has come to Bright Falls, and what has started to happen now that he is there. IMO there aren't any major plot details being "spoiled" here, those usually come further into the game. It's the sort of info people want to know, as opposed to spoilers such as major characters dying etc. ChrisJP 12:31, 20 May 2007 (UTC)
Hmm. The story as described here really reminds me (to put it nicely) of Silent Hill 2... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.43.182.51 ( talk) 01:14, 3 October 2007 (UTC)
The plot synopsis used in this article differs from what can be found at official website. For example, Alice is not Alan´s fiancée (they´re married), she disappears AFTER arrival to Bright Falls, etc... Could anyone fix it? (I´m afraid I´m not able to do it myself). 79.127.160.90 ( talk) 20:17, 20 January 2009 (UTC)

The announce date seems to be important information to include. It was sometime during E3 2005. [1] Kinkywhynot ( talk) 00:16, 3 June 2009 (UTC)
The Lynchian inspiration is very obvious; numerous tributes to not only Twin Peaks, but to Blue Velvet as well (note the soundtrack choices). I've only played through chapter one, but I'm already anticipating the drive down a Dark Road.
Incidentally, why is this article locked? It seems like such a trivial piece to lock; not like it's 'Islam' or 'Meat'.. just a video game. 24.131.135.40 ( talk) 03:17, 11 May 2010 (UTC)
Actually, it hasn't been released. Maybe your preorder arrived early? And it's locked because a bunch of people got into a dumb edit war about the native resolution. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 130.39.250.248 ( talk) 12:50, 12 May 2010 (UTC)
Why is there no mention of product placement in Alan Wake? Judging by some of the responses I've seen, it has a particularly egregious amount of product placement. Searching for "Alan Wake product placement" brings up numerous results, although I don't know if any of them are reliable sources. 66.156.90.250 ( talk) 20:02, 26 May 2010 (UTC)
Just driving by; I actually came from Penny Arcade, since I really didn't know anything about this game. I'm wondering whether or not Penny Arcade is actually a reliable source. Of course, I imagine that you could read the policy page and decide that PA fits the bill; I would perhaps ask at the Reliable Sources Noticeboard. I would also suggest that the plot section be heavily cut down. It's quite long, and written in a bulky, wordy fashion that isn't very helpful. I apologize for not just rewriting the summary myself, but since I've never even seen a screenshot from the game, much less played it, I doubt I could do a very good job. I would suggest looking at season summaries from plot-heavy TV shows, or FA-class game plot summaries in order to see a useful model.
My apologies for just stopping by and crapping on your work; I did find the article as written to be quite informative. I just thought I'd try and be helpful. 97.73.64.160 ( talk) 14:50, 3 June 2010 (UTC)
Who added all the extra details to the plot and grammar mistakes? It's too long and not needed. The way it was before was good enough. These edits should be undone.

It can be used as source as Wikipedia guidelines do NOT specify that a forum post is not acceptable: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:RS
ctrl + f and typing "forum" brings up:
Anyone can create a website or pay to have a book published, then claim to be an expert in a certain field. For that reason self-published media—whether books, newsletters, personal websites, open wikis, blogs, personal pages on social networking sites, Internet forum postings, or tweets—are largely not acceptable.
Which doesn't apply in this case as no one can write on the Alan Wake forums and claim that he is a developer and use the Remedy logo. It's not a random facebook page, twitter or blog. It's the official forum of Remedy linked to their official webpage: http://www.remedygames.com/
There is an important exception to sourcing statements of fact or opinion: Never use self-published books, zines, websites, webforums, blogs and tweets as a source for material about a living person, unless written or published by the subject of the biographical material. "Self-published blogs" in this context refers to personal and group blogs; see WP:BLP#Reliable sources and WP:BLP#Using the subject as a self-published source.
Alan Wake is neither biographical material about a living person nor the posts made by Markus Maki are made by someone "random"; the forums are owned by Remedy and the developers ofter write there.
And that's all Wikipedia's rules have to say about forums. Concluding, they do not disallow the use of a forum post in general; only in specific cases detailed above.
I hope you do you realize that wikipedia's entry of Alan Wake currently uses numerous times the official forums as a source (that's even before my edits)?
For example the text:
"Alan Wake is a concept that we've been working with for over a year now. Once Max Payne 2 shipped we spent a little while recovering from the crunch, and then started working on different concepts trying to find the concept that would excite us and that we could be passionate about. And after several drafts we found something that we really liked... and that concept was Alan Wake."[15] - Petri Järvilehto, Game Developer
is sourced from the forums. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 178.128.243.161 ( talk) 08:44, 19 July 2010 (UTC)
edit In case you haven't realized reputable sources such as gamespot use Alan Wake's forums and Markus Maki's posts as a source of information..

In a post to Alan Wake's official message boards this week, Remedy development director Markus Maki stated that the studio is completely focused on the Xbox 360 edition of the game, to the apparent detriment of the PC version. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.103.164.166 ( talk) 08:56, 19 July 2010 (UTC)

Came here looking to see who voice-acted Wake, but the information wasn't present. So I added a quick breakdown of some of the main and secondary characters with their voice actors. Hope it's up to scratch! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 101.172.170.170 ( talk) 17:24, 4 May 2012 (UTC)
I read the information about the possible sequel, and then re-read a few more times, and it still didn't make sense to me. It feels like it's just been added on to every time more news was unveiled. Some bits make it sound like something is 100% confirmed, while later bits are then making it sound like it's all still in pre-development. Can we edit this to something more concise? I say we keep it to just the facts on what has been announced and released. Cbetta ( talk) 00:39, 24 November 2012 (UTC)
