Could someone please tell me why lyrics should not be in this article? Lyrics are included for just about every other article for fight songs, school songs, etc. (see War Eagle Fight song, Central Oklahoma's fight song, University of Wisconsin/Wisconsin State's fight song, LSU's school song, the Penn State fight song, The University of Texas school song, Texas Tech's school song, The University of Arkansas' fight song, and hundreds more that I could cite)
The first reason given was that the lyrics were copyrighted, but that is clearly not the case, because the lyrics were completed before the 1923 cutoff for copyright. (clearly established date on Wikipedia) The actual date was around 1918, and clearly before 1920 when used at yell practices if you view the first link in external links section.
The new reason being given is that lyrics should be placed at Wikisource, but according to precedent and acceptance, they are generally placed at Wikipedia in my experience. This extends past just fight songs to many well known songs, such as She'll be coming round the mountain, Old McDonald Had a Farm, Yankee Doodle, and hundreds (probably thousands) of others. This is not an uncommon practice for songs with expired or non existent copyrights such as this one. I do not understand why there is such a resistance to it. Any comments and discussion would be appreciated. Cardsplayer4life ( talk) 01:31, 20 February 2008 (UTC)
Hello fellow Wikipedians,
I have just added archive links to one external link on
Aggie War Hymn. Please take a moment to review
my edit. If necessary, add {{
cbignore}}
after the link to keep me from modifying it. Alternatively, you can add {{
nobots|deny=InternetArchiveBot}}
to keep me off the page altogether. I made the following changes:
