There was a previous collapse, which is already covered in the main article. Plus, there have been others (Connecticut). Famartin ( talk) 15:58, 11 June 2023 (UTC) reply

Also, the title should be redirected to Mianus River Bridge (the CT collapse mentioned above, and the most notable one off the top of my head). LilianaUwU ( talk / contributions) 16:01, 11 June 2023 (UTC) reply
The problems is the article creator gave it the wrong name. This was an overpass, not a bridge. Abductive ( reasoning) 08:02, 12 June 2023 (UTC) reply
I mean, an overpass is a type of bridge, if you wanna be technical about it. LilianaUwU ( talk / contributions) 02:12, 13 June 2023 (UTC) reply

  • Oppose for now The collapse just happened yesterday, so, as is the case with the many tornado outbreak pages I contribute to, information about the event will end up coming in rapidly eventually as more info about the situation becomes available. Additionally, as was said above, the event is similar to the I-85 bridge collapse in that this collapse will have significant impacts on the economy (this is I-95 after all) and an investigation into how a bridge on such an important highway collapsed due to a truck fire will become EXTREMELY important to note. As a result, I think it's too early for a redirect in my opinion. Chess Eric 17:58, 12 June 2023 (UTC) reply
Additional Note: I would also like to add that the collapse happened at the PA 73 exit, which provides access to the Tacony–Palmyra Bridge. The closure of I-95 also affects traffic at the Betsy Ross Bridge and exit 32, which provides access to the Northeast Philadelphia Airport AND Holy Family University, is closed. This is a major incident with the governor pushing for a disaster declaration. Its truly a miracle that there were no casualties here, but the ramification of such an event will be long-lasting and it will take MONTHS to get this segment open again. This really should stay. Another Note: As noted below, this is now a fatal collapse. Chess Eric 13:50, 13 June 2023 (UTC) reply

Oppose. Financial times reported link to inflation:
The US transportation secretary warned Sunday’s collapse of part of a major road on the country’s east coast will push up the price of goods in the region as shipping costs increase.
Of the 16,000 vehicles daily that would normally travel that affected section of the I-95 highway in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, about 8 per cent are trucks, Pete Buttigieg told a press conference on Tuesday.
“What a lot of people don’t always see behind those inflation numbers is the importance of our supply chains,” he said. “If a route is disrupted or if it’s longer or if trucks have to wait, that finds its way into the costs of goods.”
Buttigieg’s warning comes as the US continues to grapple with one of the worst bouts of inflation in decades. New hordak from 2018 ( talk) 21:24, 13 June 2023 (UTC) reply

Title: 2023 Interstate 95 highway collapse?

This would distinguish it from the one that occurred in the 1990s. RKJ 5 ( talk) 14:04, 12 June 2023 (UTC) reply

There was no bridge, it was a highway overpass. Calling it a bridge is misleading to the readership. Abductive ( reasoning) 13:15, 13 June 2023 (UTC) reply
I don't see that as a problem: Overpass, bridge; potatoe, potato. In most regions an overpass is simply a special case name for a bridge that crosses another transportation artery rather than a body of water or whatever. From an engineering POV, financial or maintenance POV the two words are identical. In fact, the lead sentence for the article for overpass says "An overpass is a bridge ....". Dave is correct. If it has abutments, piers, decking, and barrier rails, it is a bridge. – Fredddie 16:36, 13 June 2023 (UTC) reply
A kind of bridge called an overpass. Also, the title doesn't choose between these. I have made the infobox match the title. Abductive ( reasoning) 17:41, 13 June 2023 (UTC) reply

'Classic Philly Man' Gives News Interview, And People Can’t Get Over His Accent (RS per WP:RSP) What makes this different from other viral personalities within a serious incident like, say, with Ain't Nobody Got Time for That or Charles Ramsey, is that in the linked "follow-up interview" on WTXF-TV, he offered to donate some of the proceedings of the sales of a related T-shirt to the family of the collapse victim. Assuming that he follows through, and hopefully with reinforcement of a future Inquirer/Daily News article, I believe that this should get a sentence or two. Incomprehensible sentence

There is currently a "sentence" at the end of the Detours section that reads:

"After a few days of severe rush hour delays, even as the closure traffic on city highways returned to close to normal as drivers found alternate routes, switched to transit, or worked from home."

It's the last sentence in the section. I'd fix it but I can't tell what it's supposed to mean. Somebody else might want to take a crack at it. 69.121.57.177 ( talk) 01:21, 28 June 2023 (UTC) reply
