Precedent has not been set by other articles mentioned. They have been reverted to redirects many times in the past because the announcement were small in stature and because the majority of the announcements made were multiyear deals signed for the previous year, ie 2016 is the second or third year of such deals. The references regarding DJR Penske and Prodrive Australia are NOT announcements, they are speculation. The only announcement that qualifies as being a genuine announcement new for 2016 is van Gisbergen moving to Triple Eight. And ONE driver signing has never been enough to qualify for a new article. -- Falcadore ( talk) 15:15, 29 April 2015 (UTC)
Everybody knows Cameron Waters is going to be driving the RNR car, every credible source Auto Action, Speedcafe etc is saying it's a done deal, in reality it was likely done before Reynolds was let go in November. But its hardly worth starting World War 3 over, so to stop all the bullshit posting and reversing can we agree to leave it out until it is announced by PRA/RNR? Impala27 ( talk) 07:31, 1 February 2016 (UTC)
As Falcadore and TZealot have said, we always wait for official confirmation from the team until a driver is added to the table. Note that Waters is not yet listed on V8 Supercars' championship drivers page. – Ky ta bu 09:13, 9 February 2016 (UTC)
As there is some disagreement as to the validity of noting drivers who have departed the series, thought it best to work through the pros and cons.
The versions proposed are:
By including departing drivers it gives a summary of all movements year-on-year, i.e. 25 drivers at the end of 2015, 10 internal movements, 3 arrivals, 2 departures = 26 in 2016. This is the format that has been adopted at 2015 BTCC. Other similar articles such as 2015 Collingwood Football Club season and 2014–15 Manchester United F.C. season list all ins and outs. To exclude would only tell part of the story. Impala27 ( talk) 02:43, 8 February 2016 (UTC)
Would we either, a) Change the name July 1, b) Change the name now, or c) Not bother until the 2017 Championship. TZealot ( talk) 08:59, 27 April 2016 (UTC)
@ Holdenman05, SchueyFan, Prisonermonkeys, TZealot, and JRam Wiki: with the series name being changed, should the title of this season also be changed? I feel that as this season started with the "International V8 Supercars Championship" title, it should remain as such. – Ky ta bu 05:56, 1 July 2016 (UTC)
I would keep it as 2016 International V8 Supercars Championship as that's the way the season started. Prisonermonkeys ( talk) 01:39, 7 July 2016 (UTC)
