There is no reason to have the merge tag. The 2013 season is already in the planning stages. Doctorindy ( talk) 13:38, 15 May 2012 (UTC)
Hi,
I've just gone through and trimmed out a whole lot of excessive detail that was largely unconfirmed, and reformatted the tables to make this article consistent with other motorsport season pages - like 2013 Formula One season and 2013 World Rally Championship season. I think the Indycar pages have had their own format for far too long, one that treats Wikipedia as a news service. Prisonermonkeys ( talk) 05:10, 22 September 2012 (UTC)
Like those pages, should we also cut the sponsors from the page as well? Since the NASCAR pages are doing it for 2013, and no-one else is either. Gaeaman787 ( talk) 02:38, 24 September 2012 (UTC)
I already removed it ChrisD. We're removing sponsors from all team tables. Gaeaman787 ( talk) 20:43, 28 January 2013 (UTC)
Yes, it would make sense if we were all at the races trying to identify people, but this is an encyclopedia. Admittedly the classic pages for IndyCar and other motorsports aren't maintained constantly and aren't up to the same standards as the modern pages. But not everyone's going to go to the races. For example, if someone was going to watch a race, and let's say Simona got injured at Milwaukee and needed to be replaced by Saavedra, who brought 6 sponsors to fund his way into the ride. We would include the fact that Saavedra would drive the 78, but we wouldn't note his sponsors, since they don't add anything to the page. The imporant points of a season page are the teams, the drivers, and the races they're running. Gaeaman787 ( talk) 18:23, 29 January 2013 (UTC)
Actually, Scotch, its better to bring up your issue at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_American_Open_Wheel_Racing Note there was already a discussion about sponsors. Gaeaman787 ( talk) 20:35, 29 January 2013 (UTC)
I propose two new Wiki categories: One for all IndyCar racing seasons and all IndyCar racing champions. Other major championships have a Wiki category for their champs. 71.210.21.155 ( talk) 00:33, 26 December 2012 (UTC)
I'm thinking of switching how the infobox template is set up. Instead of going by team, what about by engine manufacturer. So instead of Team to engine to driver, Have it be engine to team (from a-z of course) to driver. As well, since 92% of the drivers are running the whole schedule and alot of the partial entires are going to be running at Indy (except for Conway), wouldn't it be better to split up the table. Any driver changes would be accounted for by placing that drivers name under the former. Gaeaman787 ( talk) 06:09, 29 January 2013 (UTC)
So, based on various news stories I'm reading (both official IndyCar site and elsewhere), I am being led to believe that Pagenaud is racing under the Schmidt-Hamilton banner, whereas Vautier will be under the Schmidt-Peterson banner, as both cars have separate equity partners - but it's still meant to be all the same team. How can we best represent this in the table? TheChrisD Rants• Edits 00:21, 30 January 2013 (UTC)
Davey Hamilton's no longer a part of the team. Their site reads as Schmidt Peterson, and Sam Schmidt and Ric Peterson are listed as the only owners. Gaeaman787 ( talk) 01:26, 30 January 2013 (UTC)

I believe the Driver Standings chart is wrong for this race. Dario received a time penalty for blocking Power on the last couple laps, and was dropped from the podium to 13th, moving others like Marco and TK up a spot. Granted, it was a Barnhart ruling. Did Beaux reverse it? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 63.234.185.69 ( talk) 13:11, 24 July 2013 (UTC)
