Also the epicentres of the earthquakes were offshore, between Rhodes and Fethiye, according to both USGS/ICS-GEM and the KOERI (Kandilli Observatory and Earthquake Research Institute) catalogues

Thank you very much for your above contributions. I fully agree with your suggestion of naming. On the other hand, I was unfortunately not aware of the USGS reports. I kindly ask you to perform the necessary corrections with proper refs.

Thanks for changing the name. I'm updating the magnitudes and locations using the
ISC-GEM catalogue, which show redeterminations for all major earthquakes from 1900-2009. These are the same values as reported in the USGS pages on these events and I will cite them, as that's easier than getting people to search through the whole catalogue.
