I was up in New York over the weekend, and paid a visit to Green-Wood Cemetery, which dates from 1838 under its present name, and represents a consolidation of a couple of earlier cemeteries. Most people don't know it, but Green-Wood has the honor of also being in the National Cemetery system, and they have lots of veterans from all wars from the Revolution forward. They have identified 3,300, so far, of which 1,300 needed new headstones and bronze markers. They recently got a lot of replacement headstones for the National Guard Veterans from the Civil War from the Veterans Administration, and they are on public display until March 29th, when they will start installing them in their proper location. I saw a few from the 14th Regiment, and the next time I am up there I will take a few pictures of them for the article. - SSG Cornelius Seon (Retired) ( talk) 14:09, 27 January 2009 (UTC)
