Chernozem
Removed mis-labelled picture, not an example of an actual chernozem soil type. The black soils in the
Black Dirt Region are not mapped by the USDA as chernozem/mollisol soils, but rather as histosols, mixed in with inceptisols and entisols. Formerly known as the "drowned lands", the Black Dirt Region soils are organic soils formed by persistent wetness.
