It's not just a matter of phrasing, unfortunately; the portion that I am removing depends upon an unreliable source, Williams' "racist mathematician unveiled" rant. The references listed there do not support his claims.

No. If you want a claim to be in an article, -you- have to provide reliable sources to support it. You can't just post whatever you want and say it's up to others to disprove it.

The quote isn't on the page about Hunt that you keep trying to use to cite it, and the news article uses the MAD pages as its source for the quote. Please stop kvetching about "whitewashing" and actually look at the things you're linking.

MAD (the site with the "racist mathematician unveiled" page) is absolutely not a reliable source. The Historia preprint mentions that Moore supported segregation, but doesn't support the more extreme claims of mistreatment.

No, the fact that the author's sources don't support what he's saying at all makes it garbage. Go read the articles in his list -- the AMS and Topology Proceedings articles are publicly available now.

The "racist mathematician unveiled" page is garbage, and the "second source" is a page from the same collection. The quote from Hunt is also NOT in the linked page, contrary to what another editor has claimed.
