The Balšić noble family had some substantial Serbian roots which is corroborated by many historians from various countries. They also ruled a medieval state/principality which used Serbian as the main language. It also should be noted that the Balšić family was under the Serbian Empire in the 1380’s and under the Serbian Despotate between the years of 1405-1421.
