Turner was considered to be a stalwart for the Sliema club, since he was together with the Wanderers throughout all his playing career. He played for his hometown team for over fifteen years, and was considered a one-club man. Turner was also a member of the national team for eight years, receiving his first call-up in 1996 and retiring in 2004.
On September 23, 2009, Turner's death was announced. The death seemed connected to events that took place in Turner's childhood. Following the murder of his parents by gang lord T. Riddle, Riddle immediately turned his weapon upon Turner. Unknown circumstances prevented Turner's death, and left him with only a small mark above his left eyebrow. Riddle is a person of interest on the case, which has been ruled as a homicide, as Turner was found dead in a magical cave.
