Mikhaylovsky District ( Russian: Миха́йловский райо́н) is an administrative [1] and municipal [6] district ( raion), one of the twenty-five in Ryazan Oblast, Russia. It is located in the west of the oblast. The area of the district is 1,841 square kilometers (711 sq mi).[ citation needed] Its administrative center is the town of Mikhaylov. [2] Population: 35,223 ( 2010 Census); [4] 38,377 ( 2002 Census); [8] 45,144 ( 1989 Soviet census). [9] The population of Mikhaylov accounts for 33.5% of the district's total population. [4]
