Mahmudabad ( Persian: محموداباد) [a] is a village in, and the capital of, Mahmudabad Rural District of Sivan District, Ilam County, Ilam province, Iran. [4] The village is populated by Kurds. [5]
At the 2006 National Census, its population was 854 in 171 households, when it was in the Mishkhas Rural District of the Central District. [6] The following census in 2011 counted 887 people in 225 households. [7] The latest census in 2016 showed a population of 789 people in 217 households, [2] by which time the rural district had been separated from the district in the establishment of the new Sivan District. [8]
The rural district was established in 2023, with Mahmudabad as its capital. [4]
