As of October 2018, there were 5,738 museums in Japan. This total comprises, in line with the Museum Act, 914 registered museums, 372 designated museum-equivalent facilities, and 4,452 museum-like facilities. [1]
As of 1 November 2019, and in line with the Museum Act, there were forty-five registered museums in Hokkaidō: [2]
