Holopterygius is an extinct genus of prehistoric eel-like coelacanth known from the Devonian ( GivetianFrasnian) of Germany. Despite its specialized morphology and superficial dissimilarity to the usual Paleozoic coelacanth body plan, it is one of the most basal actinistian fish. [1]
