The centralized discussion page is now set up at: Wikipedia:Centralized discussion/Image placeholders. A copy of all the debating here is in an archive attached to that page: Wikipedia:Centralized discussion/Image placeholders/Archive 1.
The discussion is now listed in the Centralized discussions box (see right), and at the project Wikipedia:WikiProject Free images. I've also linked it to RFC Style (not RFCPolicy) as suggested by Northwesterner1.
I hope it's all OK. Please let me know otherwise - or go ahead and make the necessary repairs! Best etc. -- Kleinzach ( talk) 06:40, 11 April 2008 (UTC)

this is taking the scenes of the charactors from a series in reveiw and gossiping of speaking up for taking eastenders storyline —Preceding unsigned comment added by 62.190.177.81 ( talk) 14:04, 23 June 2008 (UTC)

I keep encountering this thing in articles; not all editors are aware of the Centralized Discussion that nixed, by WP community-wide consensus, the use of this and similar images on article pages, and some are thus still deploying it. The status of this image as deprecated is very clear and needs to be made clearer (but it should not be deleted; the centralized and pre-centralized debates about it are of great precedential value, but would be rendered rather inexplicable if the image disappeared, as it is used numerous times in the course of the debate).
{{Warning|1=Do not add this image to article pages. The proposal to add such images to articles [[Wikipedia:Centralized discussion/Image placeholders|has been rejected]]. The image is preserved for historical reasons, as it is frequently cited in the proposal debates.}}
These changes should be applied to any and all images in this series. I have so far tagged two of them for this editprotected cleanup.

Why would you remove the link to the Special Upload page when this image is still used on over 10000 articles claiming to link to an ability to upload a free-use photo? All you are effectively disabling is the good part of this system, not getting rid of the image. DoubleBlue ( Talk) 09:57, 17 September 2008 (UTC)

Use of placeholders in a nutshell: Use of these placeholders in neither encouraged nor deprecated. Although many editors object to their appearance they work for the intended purpose. |

This page should not be speedily deleted because... I just proposed this for deletion but actually I am unsure what has happened. Someone just created this page and their content is being combined with Commons Content. The talk page needs to remain, but the page just created needs to go.
