I believe the new film will just be Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum. [1] --

This appears to come from a mistake in the official press release, which is missing the leading "the" for all The Lord of the Rings film and franchise references. For instance, it lists the upcoming animated film as "Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim" when we know that it is actually titled "The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim". If future releases from the producers and studios corrects this everywhere except for this new film then that could support this not being a mistake, but for now I don't think we can use sources that are copying an apparent mistake from a press release. -

I just saw that
the official press release includes "the" in the title, not sure if they fixed the mistake or if other websites just copied it incorrectly. -
