King Davidson Emenogu (born 4 September 1984) is a Nigerian-born Australian professional boxer. [2] and a former World Boxing Organization (WBO) Junior middleweight, champion who held the title between 2012 and 2013. [3] [4] [5] International Boxing Federation (IBF) Champion, PABA/WBA Champion, (Australian) .He represented his country as an amateur at the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne, Australia. [6] [7]
King Davidson was born in Imo state Nigeria on 4 September 1984, he took up boxing at 19, and joined a local college team, training under his father Mr Emenogu.
Davidson began his boxing career in 2002 at the age of 19, making him a late starter in the sport. As an amateur, he won a bronze medal at the 2006 Commonwealth Games, and gold at the 2003 All-Africa Games. he fought over 180 times as an amateur boxer and won 175 out of this total before proceeding to a professional career. King made his professional debut at the age of 23 on 29 June 2007. he agreed to be trained by Johnny Lewis after moving permanently to Australia [2]. Emenogu faced Yuki Nonik for the Oriental Pacific Boxing Federation (OPBF) junior Middleweight Title on February 20 2010 in Japan. [8]
Davidson made his professional boxing debut title match in April 2012, defeating Russia's Andrejs Iodinovs in the fifth round to retain his World Boxing Organization (WBO) International Light Middleweight title in Southampton. [9] [10] [11] [12]
