Flore Danny Marie-Joseph Pensaert (born 2nd of October 1997) is a Flemish speaking Belgian model, actress and Instagram personality. On top of that, she's an activist against sexual abuse. In 2023 she was crowned Miss Rebelgium by P-Magazine as recognition for her efforts.
Flore was born in Ghent and grew up as the youngest of 3 siblings in Lokeren. While growing up, she combined her studies of Social Sciences at Sint-Lodewijkscollege with participating in art competitions such as Kunstbende, where she won prizes in the categories Film, Photo, Performance, Visual & Text. [1]
She also yearly joined poetry performances organized by the local poetry club. [2] As a photography student at night school CVO Leerstad, she often posed for classmates, inspiring her to become a professional model and influencer.
The summaries of these activities became the basis for her further studies.
In 2015 Flore started her filmstudies at RITCS School Of Arts in Brussels. During this period, she witnessed various cases of sexual abuse [3]. When the #Metoo movement reached it's peak in Belgium, Pensaert explained her experiences on national talkshow Van Gils & gasten [4]. Later on, a statement was put out by Pensaert on her Instagram that her testimony had created a blacklisting effect within the film industry against her. Ever since she shared her mental health struggles openly with the public on her socials.
In 2023 Pensaert joined Miss Belgium. However, she soon got removed from the competition after claims from the board that her image as an artistic nude model wouldn't fit the pageantry [5]. At that exact moment Belgian media ( VRT NWS Journaal) broke the news that the main photographer of Miss Belgium had sexually abused contestants & that most contestants were underage upon joining [6].
In an interview with P-Magazine, Pensaert stated she had helped release this news to the outside world since she had known about this abuse for a while, and that she never meant to win the competition. P-Magazine crowned her as Miss Rebelgium (a play on the words rebel and Belgium) as a parodic recognition of her efforts on her 26th birthday, making her covergirl of October 2023 [7].
In oktober 2023 Pensaert released a calendar with various ex-contestants of Miss Belgium to demand a discontinuation of sexual and financial abuse within the pageantry world. The calendar was sold for a National good cause called De Warmste Week [8].
Until this day Pensaert makes efforts to demand better treatment of vulnerable people within the arts.
In 2019 Flore could be seen in television Program Spoed 24/7 with her father. Doctors feared she has cancer, but this ended up being a lymph node infection.
In 2023 Flore appeared in My Body & Me, a section of Belgian magazine Flair, wherein she talks about her relationship with her body. [9]
Flore ran catwalks for Leicester Fashion Week as well as London Fashion Week in 2022 & 2023.
