André Armenante (born July 28, 1991) is an American entertainer & entrepreneur, based out of Los Angeles, California. Armenante works in various industries, including toys, theatre, film and social media.
André Armenante graduated as a double major in Graphic Design and Advertising with a focus on Animatronic Technology, from the School of Visual Arts (SVA) in New York, New York. 2005 — Armenante built and trademarked his first two animatronics, Butter and Marge [1] [2]. 2008 — Butter, Marge and Armenante's eighteen other animatronics were then featured in his television pilot, 'Charged' [3].
Armenante entered the toy industry with business partner Mark Setteducati. November 2011— Armenante developed a prototype of a Pepper's Ghost and smartphone toy. Setteducati became the representative of the prototype [4]. The prototype was presented and rejected by Fantasma Toys and Tenyo. May 2012 — Goliath Games licensed the concept, now named HolograFX [5], a sci-fi themed magic kit with smartphone app that allowed users to engage with interactive holographic stories. [6] [7] [8]
2013 — HolograFX received five awards: Best Toy in Youth Electronics at the U.K. Toy Fair [9], Best Tech Toy at the Gadget Show Live [10], Best Toy Of The Year at the Belgium Toy Fair. At the France Toy Fair HolograFX won Best Toy Of The Year and Grand Prix.
2014 — HolograFX launched internationally, distributed primarily by Toys "R" Us® and John Adams-Toys & Games.
2015 - 2016 — Armenante worked along side of Jim Steinmeyer functioning as lead special effects designer for " Magic to Do" - an original musical by composer Stephen Schwartz, in partnership with Princess Cruises. "Magic To Do" was awarded an Excellence Award, presented by Live Design, in the category of Theatre Production [11].
2017 — Armenante partnered with artist and doll designer Andrew (Astor) Yang to create the commercial campaign for RuPaul's limited edition doll run. [12]
2019 — Armenante worked as Producer and Technical Director for the performing art piece "The Diamond Stag", an off-off Broadway production [13] [14]. The show was performed at IATI Theater in NYC, starring Andrew (Astor) Yang and Gabriella Loeb.
2021—Armenante transitioned into Content Creation across multiple platforms, including Instagram, TikTok, Snapchat and YouTube. Armenante is known online as outofthehat.
2023— Armenante produced and starred in "Echoes at Oscars", an interactive seance show created for Oscar's in downtown Palm Springs, California. [15]
