Abdul Kadir Tophic also known as Sheikh Tophic Sienu is a Ghanaian sports journalist, [2] member of Division One League, Ghana management committee [3] and a member of the Ghana Football Association communication team. [4]
He started and completed his basic education at Methodist Junior Secondary School at Bekwai in the Ashanti Region. He then attended Bekwai Wesley High Secondary School and later enrolled at Wesley College of Education, Kumasi to acquire a Diploma Tophic pursued a Degree in Education at the Institute for Educational Development and Extension (IEDE), University of Education, Winneba. He again did a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies (BAC) at the (CSUC) Kumasi.
After his teaching expedition from 2007 to 2016, Sheikh Tophic Sienu finally zoomed into full time sports journalism practice.
He had worked with Garden City Radio (GBC Kumasi branch) from 2008 to 2013 on part time basis before moving to head Dess FM in Bekwai where he was born. After the 2013 AFCON, the hardworking Sheikh Tophic Sienu was poached by Alpha Radio in Kumasi. He worked with Alpha Radio from 2014 to 2015 before finally migrating to Accra for a new settlement.
Prior to his move to Accra,he had been commuting from Kumasi to Accra to serve as a pundit on Pan Africa TV as well as on Peace FM.
His knowledge of the industry and game swept through like bushfire in the harmattan and suddenly became a hot cake for several media house to invite for their shows. [5]
He earned his first official job as an online reporter with SportsCrusader.com where he worked for a year before moving to Ghanasoccernet.com as a script editor where his rise to game was accelerated. He spent three years with Ghanasoccernet.com and was poached by 442gh.com where he served as an editor and created a niche for himself by transforming the website and making it a force be to reckon with. Just after 8 months, he was poached by footballmadeinghana.com [6] in January 2019 to serve as an editor for the website and has since been with working with them.
While performing his editorial roles between 2015 and now, Sheikh Tophic Sienu has been a football pundit on GTV Sports+ [7] and Metro TV.
He is a member of the SWAG and has been serving as the Secretary to the Awards Nomination Committee since 2016.
With his knowledge in football, he served as a scout for Aspire Academy from 2007 to 2012 as well as for Accra Lions FC in 2016.
In 2019, Tophic was part of the 5-day media visit to the German Bundesliga for some Ghanaian sports journalists organized by StarTimes [8]
Tophic was named to serve on the board ahead of the 2019-2020 DOL season. [9] [10]
Tophic was the GFA media officer to train the Ghana U17 in Morroco especially on how to handle social media. [11]
He won the CSUC Student Writer of the Year 2015. [12]
