Chega ( Persian: چگا) [a] is a village in, and the capital of, Hajji Bakhtiar Rural District of the Central District of Chavar County, Ilam province, Iran. [4] The village is populated by Kurds. [5]
At the 2006 National Census, its population was 144 in 31 households, when it was in Arkavazi Rural District of the former Chavar District of Ilam County. [6] The following census in 2011 counted 141 people in 36 households. [7] The latest census in 2016 showed a population of 130 people in 36 households. [2]
In November 2019, the district was separated from the county in the establishment of Chavar County, which was divided into two districts of two rural districts each, with Chavar as its capital and only city. [4]
