Chanovsky District ( Russian: Ча́новский райо́н) is an administrative [1] and municipal [5] district ( raion), one of the thirty in Novosibirsk Oblast, Russia. It is located in the west of the oblast. The area of the district is 5,515 square kilometers (2,129 sq mi). [2] Its administrative center is the urban locality (a work settlement) of Chany. [1] Population: 25,523 ( 2010 Census); [3] 29,391 ( 2002 Census); [7] 34,199 ( 1989 Soviet census). [8] The population of Chany accounts for 33.2% of the district's total population. [3]
