Why Ayn Rand is in both categories: LGBT rights oponent and activist?
Indeed, Ayn Rand does not belong on this page. But I don't seem to have the technical skill to edit a category...
I am somewhat unhappy that we appear to be further marginalising a marginal community - which appears that it should be included in the "LGBT" of this category - by having a sub-category for "bisexual"-only activists. Either we should have all three separate "Lesbian rights activists", "Gay rights activists" and "Transgender rights activists" in addition to the "Bisexual rights activists" category, or we should have the single umbrella "LGBT" category. Given that it would be a minefield to separate these out I propose that the umbrella "LGBT" term should be the only one in use. Should there be no negative comments to this proposal I propose to make this change within seven days. -- Vamp: Willow 15:22, 31 May 2006 (UTC)
I'm curious about this category in that it is only for activists. Is there a category for publicly declared supporters? Some of the article labeled with this are more about supporters than activists. Would it be appropriate to tweak the cat name to "LGBT rights activists and supporters"? Create a second cat for "LGBT rights supporters" of which "LGBT rights activists" would be a subcat? Suggestions? Feedback? Pondering this while I work on Natalie Maines, who I think I would consider a supporter but not an activist. Zue Jay ( talk) 21:38, 18 March 2007 (UTC)
For instance, Kyle Rae is a politician, and a gay politician. But he is not a gay activist in any real sense, at least not any longer. He mostly focuses on development and arts issues. He has never headed a major gay organization, and has stayed out of most issues (age of consent, trans) that have been in the media lately. Including him in this category is really stretching it.
As Category:Early campaigners for LGBT rights has been merged here, including some of the introductory text, I'm pasting that category's history here. Enjoy.

Would any celebrities who believe in gay marriage belong on this category? You have Miley Cyrus, Eminem, Pink, and so many others. -- Geekboy6 ( talk) 17:25, 31 July 2010 (UTC)
Just went through the list of LGBT activists. Many of them are classified as activists in different nationalities. Some people, we need to move to their respective nationality. For example, Lea Michele would be an activist from the United States.-- Geekboy6 ( talk) 17:40, 31 July 2010 (UTC)
