Name problem: Animals can't be actors.

I'm a bit confused about the name of this section and the way the term appears in several articles. People can be actors. Acting is a craft and every dictionary I can find defines an actor as "a person" or similar. Animals are performers. Animals can be trained to perform feats, but a dog does not pretend to be another dog with a different personality.
